Situated in the West Midlands, Coventry is the fifth largest city in England, a cathedral city and a center for industry in the area. Situated within easy access of Birmingham and two hours away from London, the city is central and easily linked to the main cities in the country. Coventry is a vibrant and modern town that was badly hit by the bombing in the Second World War and had to be largely rebuilt afterwards. The city's cathedral was destroyed but the modern version, built next to the ruins of the old, is an imposing structure of impressive architectural design; a tower does remain from the old medieval cathedral and is still an impressive sight. The city in fact predates many of the surrounding cities and can trace roots of settlement here back to the Bronze Age. Nowadays a major center for commerce as well as the home of two significant universities, this is a buzzing and vibrant town, home to a selection of sights and an active nightlife. The hotels Coventry has on offer will provide a comfortable and convenient place to stay.

Settlement in the area of Coventry city predates most of the surrounding large towns including London and Birmingham. The original lay of the land in this area, with a large river and lakes, nearby thick forest and mild weather made this an ideal place to settle. The settlement expanded and developed during the Roman occupation and then continued to do so. The city is also the place of the 11th century legend of Lady Godiva, who allegedly rode naked though the streets of Coventry in protest at her husband's taxation of his tenants. By the Middle Ages Coventry had become a center for cloth trade and was establishing a foot in other industries, the city continued this trend and, in the 18th and 19th centuries, became a center for watch and clock manufacturing and, in the 19th century, a center for bike and later, car manufacturing. During the Second World War, Coventry was one of the most severely hit of all English cities, indeed it was probably targeted, as a hub of manufacturing munitions and arms. In the years after the war the city was significantly rebuilt with a completely new cathedral which incorporates one of the world's largest tapestries into its interior design.

The hotels Coventry has on offer provide a selection of amenities including satellite TV, free parking, Wi-Fi and a traditional full English breakfast to start the day. There are numerous restaurants in the city, offering local as well as international food and also a vast selection of bars and clubs in the area. There are various things to do in this area including visits to the imposing structure of the cathedral, a strong testament to English determination and the will to start over in the wake of major disaster. The area is also home to Lunt Roman Fort, a partially reconstructed Roman fort that was built on that exact spot over two thousand years ago. The fort includes a museum and also various re-enactments take place over the course of the year. There are also various museums in the city as well as a number of exhibits to do with Lord Leofric, husband of Lady Godiva, that have recently been excavated.

Situated in the midlands, Coventry offers easy access to some of the most famous cities in England, so whist staying in one of the hotels Coventry has to offer it is easy to take a quick day trip. It is within a quick train ride's distance of the capital city, London, where Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and various other famous sights are on offer. Coventry is also not far from the city of Stratford-upon-Avon, home of the famous playwright, William Shakespeare. The town houses various museums about the Renaissance playwright and the local theater company regularly stage traditional as well as more cutting edge versions of a number of his plays. Coventry is also within easy access of Birmingham, England's second city and home to a number of museums, impressive architecture and a widely renowned nightlife.
